In 2016 the Province of Namur is launched a call for tenders for the new Provincial Administrative House and the development of its surroundings which will be located along the Sambre, between the Provincial Campus and the Haute Ecole de la Province de Namur.

The proposed project aims at intelligent management and optimization of flows, which led to the creation of a core of common spaces around which all of the building's activities are structured.

The building is organized around an interior courtyard to provide maximum light to the spaces. The central core crosses the patio, providing central access to the different floors and allowing increased flexibility of the program throughout the life of the building. Thus, two patios are created, benefiting all the services and common spaces, while giving them a double view (furnished patios + common spaces towards the interior and landscaped surroundings towards the exterior) from any point of the building.

Particular attention was paid to the development of the surrounding areas, particularly with regard to water management (infiltration of all rainwater, use of draining materials, routing to infiltration swales, creation of a vegetable garden, impluvium …)

The project is also aiming for the BREEAM Excellent label, by promoting solar gains, using geothermal energy and geocooling, implementing intelligent lighting and hot/cold ceiling systems powered by renewable energy production, thus allowing to make it a positive energy building.
